A largely original Ford Model A with plenty of character and charm ready to enjoy!

After the major success of the Model T, Ford looked to introduce a new competitive vehicle to replace their ageing lineup, thus the Model A was introduced in 1928. From 1928 till 1931 nearly 5 million had been produced and sold with body styles ranging from commercial’s to coupes roadsters.

All ford Model A’s came with a 4 cylinder inline 4 of 201cu displacement making about 40hp that gave a top speed of around 105km/h through a 3 speed non synchro transmission. Four wheel mechanical drum brakes brought the car to a holt. Model A’s were also the first Ford’s to use the conventional set of driver controls with clutch, brake pedal, throttle and gearshift in a standard configuration to todays vehicles.

This Model A Ford Town Sedan was originally made and sold in the USA and is largely original having never been fully restored in it’s 89 year life. To our knowledge, the body has never been taken off the chassis. Being a USA vehicle means that the body is a full steel unit and not of a wooden structure as the Australian models were built. The vehicle has been well maintained over the years with all mechanicals in good condition and very solid body. The paint, though not in great condition having been painted somewhat 30 years ago maintains a rustic patinaed charm to it. The interior seats, carpets and roof lining have also been refurbished some time ago with some age showing though suits the exterior condition well. Electrics have been upgraded to 12V

Overall this is a charming characterful Model A that would lend itself to a good base for restoration or drive as is as a survivor.

Vehicle comes with RWC.
