1948 Ford F1 Pickup Rat Rod – Great Patina, loads of character!
 
Imported personally by the current owner 4 years ago, this pickup has great natural patina and loads of character.
 
Introduced in late 1947, the F-Series was the first post-war truck design from Ford. The first generation of the F-Series was the precursor of all later F series trucks into the future. The F1 remained in production until 1952 where these vehicles are now hard to find.
 
This Ford F1 is particularly unusual with a fantastic all natural patina (not fake) while the aesthetics have been carefully altered by the current owner with a new hardwood timber bed, white wall tires, fender indicators, headlight covers and side mirrors all kept in a rustic style in keeping with the pickups character. This pickup is NOT a rust bucket like some other ‘patina’ vehicles!!!
The interior has been repainted in what is thought to be the original colour of the truck while custom dash pin striping and newly recovered seats finish off the aesthetics nicely.
 
This F-1 has been upgraded to a 350 Chev V8 mated to a turbo 350 automatic giving oodles of power to cruise at highway speeds with ease, the auto transmission having been rebuilt less than 5000km ago.
Suspension wise, it has been fitted with 4 wheel independent airbags that can be controlled from the cab either independent on each wheel or front and back adjustment or all bags simultaneously – great for car shows, on the road for smooth driving and clearance for sharp driveways. The suspension was professionally finished off at Mexs Garage and drives well. The brakes have also been converted to disks in the front for added stopping power.
New door rubbers and window seals have been installed as well as a custom tail shaft. Included, is a host of spare parts including a new brake booster and wind visor.
