1957 saw the introduction of the ‘TR3A’ (though not officially called that at the time) that saw changes to the now full width front grill, exterior door handles a lockable boot and now previously optional full tool kit, becoming standard equipment. 1959 saw the optional 2138cc engine being made available.
 
Mechanically the TR3A remained largely the same with the 1991cc inline 4 cylinder production around 100hp mated to a 4 speed manual gear box with overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears being an optional extra. Steering, suspension, chassis and class leading (at the time) disk brakes remained the same. 
 
The Vehicle
This TR3A was built on the 13th of June 1960 and dispatched to Australia in Signal Red with Grey Vynide interior with White hood and side curtains. Other specification equipment included ‘No heater’ wire wheels, Tonneau cover in white and Overdrive.
 
Little of the TR3A’s known history has survived since it’s first owner in Australia until it’s purchase in the late 90’s in QLD and subsequent 3-year restoration completed in about 2003 (with photo evidence). During the restoration, the original body colour was kept however the seats were changed to red vinyl and black hood, and side screens were installed.
Subsequently, at some stage the interior colour was changed to black vinyl, and hood has been replaced with a new unit.
Since the restoration – general maintenance has been kept as shown by its paperwork records and has changed through a few owners until the current owner took possession in 2013.
The Triumph remains in overall nice condition with a little patina to the paint work and small signs of wear and tear.
 
This TR3A would make a great usable classic for a weekend drive now ready for you to enjoy.
