Standout from the crowd in this beautiful bright yellow Karmann Ghia!

Possibly one of the most beautiful Volkswagens ever designed, the Karmann Ghia represented a time when Volkswagen started to pull away from the boundaries of post war ‘cars for the masses’ and push into other higher end segments.

Taking the form as a 2+2 couple and 2+2 convertible with styling by Italy’s Carrozzeria Ghia and hand build bodywork by Karmann (hence the name), the Karmann Ghia was marketed as a stylish and practical 2+2 rather than a sports car. In its initial inception, the Karmann sat atop of a type 1 Beetle chassis and mechanicals with a 1200cc engine which concurrently grew over time ultimately ending at 1600cc producing around 60hp. With the sturdy Beetle underpinnings, the Karmann cemented a reputation for reliability, build quality and ease of mechanical repair.

This Karmann Ghia gleams under the sun painted in stunning bright yellow with beautiful black perforated interior with contrasting yellow stitching matching the exterior. Photo’s do not do this Karmann justice!

The Karmann has been well maintained by the current owner over the last 8 years who now doesn’t have to time drive this beautiful vehicle anymore. Prior to the current owner the interior was professionally retrimmed in gorgeous black perforated vinyl with contrasting yellow stitching across the seats and dashboard giving the Karmann a unique look. Exterior wise, it is believed that the vehicle was repainted approximately 15 years ago however the quality of the paint work belies its age of something much more recent. All body shut lines are very good - a true test of a Karmann is how the door’s close – on this Karmann they close solidly with a light touch – exactly how they should!

The Karmann is powered by a 1600cc flat 4 engine mated to the standard 4 speed manual gearbox which gives this Karmann plenty of power on the open road. An aftermarket exhaust has been fitted for a slightly throatier sound under acceleration. Steering and suspension is all standard VW affair which rides comfortably for a stylish 2+2 cruiser such as this.

Sold with balance of registration and RWC (if sold in QLD - not including transfer costs), this Karmann would make an excellent edition to any collection.
