1988 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit
 
A car that is often compared to, but never bettered in terms of opulence and luxury; One does not simply drive a Rolls Royce but arrives in one.
 
The replacement for the well overdue Rolls Royce Silver Shadow & Bentley T2; the silver spirit retained the same traditional architecture carried over from the Shadow such as ‘six and three quarter’ Rolls Royce V8 engine, self-levelling Hydropneumatic suspension and of course the lavish but restrained leather & wood interior. All this encapsulated in a extremally quiet four door sedan body structure secluded from the outside world.
With each passing year, the model was slowly improved upon leading up to softer ride comfort with better handling characteristics to fuel injection for smoother performance and reliability.
 
This 1988 import example is in good condition for its age with only 73,000km recorded. The interior shows some signs of wear on the driver’s side seat upright however can be easily repaired by an upholsterer, the rest of the interior however presents in very good condition with sumptuous tan Cononley Leather seats, door cards, headlining with Burled Walnut dashboard. The air-conditioning also works well with it’s ‘two level zones’. The exterior presents well with some small imperfections on the body work which has been repainted at some stage.
 
This Silver Spirit benefits from Rolls Royce’s fuel injected v8 engine with more than ample power to waft the Rolls along with ease while the Hydropneumatic suspension works faultlessly smoothing out any imperfections in the road surface.
 
While some minor some minor faults could be addressed by a keen enthusiast, this Silver Spirit is a delight to drive and has been said by a few that it is ‘the best car they have ever driven’. A motor vehicle that is truly in a class of its own.
