Can’t afford a Honda NSX? Here’s the pocket-sized (and priced) version!
Built between 2015 and 2022, the Honda S660 was a successor to the Honda Beat sports Kei car. The S660 continued Honda’s celebrated “S” car lineage that combined cleaver engineering with a strong focus on driver involvement.
All models were powered by a mid-mounted ‘S07A Turbo’ 658cc three-cylinder turbocharged engine producing a maximum of 63hp according to Japanese Kei car regulations, paired to either a 6-speed manual or simulated 7-speed CVT transmission. What the S660 obviously lacked in power, it made up with a low kerb weight and balanced chassis resulting in responsive steering and an engaging, fun driving experience – especially shod with some grippy tires and coil overs.
In keeping with its sports car theme – the interior features a driver focused cockpit, good driving position, sports seats and the all-important G-force/boost/throttle/brake gauges. All models featured the removable targa roof for open air fun that is stored in the car’s frunk.
Though no powerhouse in stock form, the s660 can easily and reliably be turned between 80 to 100hp with off the shelf parts.
This S660 was imported into Australia in 2024 and has been subsequently complied and registered within Queensland. Presented in Premium Beach Blue Pearl with black suede interior, the Honda is in good condition for its age with circa 89,00km on the odo backed up by a full-service history and original owners-manual. The only added extra to the s660 is the extremely rare luggage rack mounted atop of the rear roof bar – suitable those Bunnings runs and proving that cargo capacity is really a state of mind.
If you are looking for a fun, modern classic that delivers great driving enjoyment in a miniature package, then this S660 could just tick all the boxes.
